Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to Circles products and services, including Comicvolt and Circles Reader.

Information we collect

When you use Google Sign-In, Circles receives only the basic profile information needed to authenticate you and create or update your Circles account: your Google account identifier, email address, name, and profile picture.

Circles does not request access to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, or other Google API data.

Circles products may also collect information you provide directly, service usage records, device and browser information, and diagnostic logs needed to operate, secure, and improve the products.

Comicvolt

Comicvolt is an unofficial MangaUpdates client. If you sign in, Comicvolt sends the username or email address and password you enter to MangaUpdates. When you use the corresponding features, Comicvolt also sends search terms, comments, reviews, forum activity, and list changes to MangaUpdates.

You can browse Comicvolt without signing in. MangaUpdates controls its accounts and the data stored in them.

Circles Reader

Circles Reader connects to a FreshRSS server selected by you. It sends the server address, username or email address, password, feed subscriptions, folder names, read and starred state, and synchronized article and feed identifiers to that server. FreshRSS credentials are transmitted only over HTTPS and are stored using operating-system protected credential storage on your device.

The operator of the FreshRSS server controls the account and synchronized data stored on that server.

Advertising, analytics, and diagnostics

Comicvolt and Circles Reader use Google Mobile Ads. The SDK may collect and share approximate location derived from IP address, app interactions, diagnostics, and device identifiers for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. The apps request non-personalized ads, but Google may still process these data types.

The apps use Firebase App Check to help confirm that advertising-service requests come from registered app builds. Google processes app and device attestation information, and the apps send the resulting App Check token to ad.circles.ac with the ad placement, an app-scoped random installation identifier, the operating system's limit-ad-tracking setting, and an advertising identifier only when the operating system permits access to it.

For eligible traffic in South Korea, the apps may display a product recommendation supplied by Coupang Partners instead of a Google ad. To request that recommendation, ad.circles.ac may provide Coupang with the placement, IP address, user agent, app-scoped installation identifier, and permitted advertising identifier. The app reports an impression only after the recommendation is visible and reports a click only after you select it. Selecting a recommendation opens Coupang's HTTPS link, where Coupang controls any browsing, account, purchase, and payment information under its privacy policy.

Circles does not store Coupang product details, product links, or impression-tracking links. The advertising service stores allocation settings, aggregate provider/app/platform/placement impression, click, fallback, and revenue totals, and a decision guard for up to one hour that contains no product details or user identifier. Circles does not receive or store payment details or an identifiable Coupang purchase history through this flow.

Comicvolt and Circles Reader use Sentry for error monitoring. Sentry may receive crash reports, diagnostics, and app, device, and installation context needed to identify and resolve reliability problems.

Circles Reader on Android uses Microsoft Clarity for product analytics and session replay. Clarity may collect country or region, screen and interaction events, device and app characteristics, and errors and diagnostics. Microsoft states that Clarity does not share this data with other third parties.

How we use information

We use information to authenticate users, maintain accounts, provide product features, sync user settings where applicable, secure the service, prevent abuse, respond to support requests, and operate Circles products.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We do not transfer Google user data to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers. We disclose information to the services described above when needed to provide the requested product features, display ads, analyze product use, diagnose errors, protect the products, comply with law, or act with your consent.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect user information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

Retention and deletion

We retain account information while your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce agreements. Diagnostic and analytics providers retain information according to their agreements and retention settings.

Firebase App Check tokens and Coupang product responses are processed transiently. Advertising decision guards expire after up to one hour. Aggregate advertising metrics do not contain product details or user identifiers and are retained as needed to compare provider performance. The app-scoped random installation identifier remains in protected device storage until the app's data is cleared or the app is uninstalled; the operating system controls advertising-ID reset and tracking permission.

Signing out of Comicvolt or removing an account from Circles Reader deletes the locally stored session or credential used by the app. To request deletion of information controlled by Circles, contact support@circles.ac. MangaUpdates account data must be deleted through MangaUpdates, and FreshRSS account or synchronized data must be deleted through the operator of the selected FreshRSS server.

Children

Circles products are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as our products or legal requirements change. The updated date above shows when this policy was last revised.
